A few ponds in the area have flocks of Canadian geese that never leave. I guess they figure the weather here is mild enough not to bother with all that travel. I was watching these guys from about 150 yards and just playing with my new P900 learning what it can do. This one bird would peck a little then look right at me, as if he knew what I was doing.
I didn't have my tripod along so the shots are all hand held, yes the one looking back at me shows some shake, but he wouldn't step into then sun and that is full extreme zoom optical and electronic.
Quite the opposite -- with side-mounted eyes, he's watching something to his right or left and has you squarely in his blind spot. So, he either trusts you, or more likely, figures you are too far away (at 8000mm!!) to pose a threat. Isn't that P900 fun?
I learned something today! I truly thought he was watching me. Yes I love that camera and it's not nearly as cumbersome as I expected.
Nice shots, Jim! Have fun with that camera!
