Nothing actually that you need to check. The majority of them are floor samples or early returns by the buyer. The manufacturer goes through all the functions of the camera to make sure they are working to factory specs.
Usually they come with a 90 days warranty but Cameta offers one year warranty on their refurbs.

Your kidding right? This is a joke? You cannot check out a camera when you get it? Is it digital with a viewing screen on the back? You can use ALL the functions of the camera and see the result right away? You can check Program, Aperture, Shutter, and Manual mode and not see the results right away on the screen on the back of the camera

New, refurbished, or used(especially used), after you satisfy your urge to fire off the first few shots, go through all the modes, check the WiFi, check it with all your lenses, and systematically check all the features because you are your own Quality Control.

Canon USA has a great reputation for their refurbished products so I'm sure you'll find it A-Ok.

Congrats, I'm sure you'll be happy!

I got a refurbished canon rebel T6 in January 2017, I'm new to photography and didn't have a huge budget. I came across my camera on the Canon E-Store Canada, online as a refurbished ( by Canon) item.

I haven't had any issues with it at all and for a beginner I think i have got some decent images and they are getting better all the time.

The only thing I did notice is that my kit lens 18-5mm isn't an IS lens, but it's not that big a deal, even thought every other one I've found online comes with an IS kit lens!

Either way I got a good deal and have been very happy with my Rebel T6!

I also got an 80D refurb from Canon and I'm extremely happy. It's like new. I will always try to buy Refurbished from them whenever I can. I'm patiently waiting for the next shipment of 100-400IS II to arrive. I just missed the last one.

Check the exterior for wear & tear, take it through the steps of shooting in various modes, review, etc. Then take it out and shoot. Try different settings, look at the images, download them and do PP to see if anything is wrong or different from what it should be. It's really no different from checking a new camera, as other posters have told you.

I gave into a GAS attack yesterday and ordered a reconditioned 80D from Canon. What sorts of things should I be checking for when it arrives?

I just bought a refurbished 7D Mark II a couple days ago. I am anxiously awaiting its arrival, and can't wait to fiddle with the settings and shoot it. All this positive commentary leaves me feeling pretty good about my purchase.

I would prefer to get a manufacturer-reconditioned camera over a brand new factory product any day I could get one. Treat it as new and be sure you have an adequately long warranty against defects. New cameras have dropped off a mass producing manufacturer's line tested automatically. Reconditioned ones have gone through a complete hands-on human check.

Nothing to check for. It will look and act as new.

Over the years I have purchased refurbs from Canon, lenses and a camera body. Have had only one issue. Their customer service is the best. Sent the lens back, they actually called me and explained the problem, fixed it are returned it the next day. All under warranty. It works flawless. Do not hesitate to buy refurbs from Canon, I believe they're better than new as a person is actually touching the problem and addressing the issue. Enjoy your new camera.
