Was just wondering if anyone had any personal experience with this piece of gear? I am looking for something smaller than D3100 to lug around on a regular basis. It gets great reviews on line but I also read how there were some problems with "white orbs" showing up in the pics.

I have an X10, bought in early May. I love it! It has excellent build quality, you can shoot RAW or JPEG. I have a lot of fun with the outstanding panoramic feature. It's not a pocket camera, except in the case of a jacket pocket. It is so nice to carry compared to a DSLR.
If you get one, I'd recommend the lens hood and an extra battery.

I also love my X10. While present, the orb issue is way overblown IMO.
Make sure where you buy it from has a 30 day money back return policy and you will be set.

Ok, bought the x10 and love it. Its got a little bit of a learning curve but very fun to use. Build quality is fantastic. I think my D3100 is getting a little jealous..lol
