Looking for resources to learn as much as I can to confidently use the other settings on my camera. I have a Canon 7D mark 1 with 18-35 kit lens for the EFS sized sensor. I also have an 18-55 and 24mm EFS. I have a 75-300 and 50mm prime, both are EF. I have some extenders, filters, and original user manual. In other words, I have a good starting point but now I want to learn all the functions and be able to use them on the fly like a photographer should.
Welcome! Looking forward to your posts and pictures. Happy shooting!
Well first....study. Study the manual of the camera. That particular one has kind of a steep learning curve but its manageable. As you do that read about exposure and experiment with the camera and the lenses you have. Read about composition. Studying paintings gives you a good base to apply some composition basics into your photography. Im sure there will be others chiming in to give their own views.
Welcome to the club....I am learning as well and this forum is AWESOME! They are wonderful at answering questions and pointing you in the right direction to learn. Happy shooting!
Welcome to the UHH. First, there is no such thing as a 7D Mark 1. There's the EOS 7D and the EOS 7D Mark II. Many folks refer to the 1st generation of a model series as Mark 1 but there is no Mark 1; nowhere on the camera or lens is there a reference to Mark 1, nowhere in the document is there a reference to Mark 1. It's kind of like the Pope. The current Pope is Pope Francis. He is the first Pope who chose the name Francis. He's not Pope Francis the first or Pope Francis I, just simply Pope Francis. The next person who chooses the name Francis will be Francis II.
Second, there is no EFS size sensor. EF-S is a Canon lens mount that will only work on crop sensor bodies; it's the lenses with the white dot.
A great way to learn digital photography is, pick up a few good educational books on the subject. Get one on exposure, Brian Peterson - Understanding Exposure, 4th edition, is a good book. Scott Kelby has an excellent series of books for beginners about digital photography. They are very easy to read and follow and very informative. Tony and Chelsea Northrup have a few really good books on digital photography and gear; also good reading. Then there's YouTube; there are thousands of good digital photography tutorials on YouTube. There are even more that are crap but, the good ones are worth watching and learning from. Also, practice, practice, practice...
Welcome aboard .
Practice like you're are practicing a musical instrument . Get to know your camera . Any questions ? Just ask them here . A lot of extremely knowledgeable people here . 😃

...practice what the books have taught you. Practice a lot.
Welcome to the Hog, enjoy.
The way that I learned is to go on line and ask your question about the camera. You will get all the answers you need. I go on you tube and get loads of info. I've learned a lot in the past year, more than I have in the last 10 years that I have a camera. I practice on the camera as the person explains the feature.
I use Photoshop elements and many members use this. Learn to see your camera settings on your computer. All cameras and all computers do this without software.
