No water cooled radiator in the trunk, yes up front. I had a 65 Corsa, 4 spd, 4 carb with racing tires all around, use to race autocross and gymkhanas. a few trophies but that was a long time ago.

None, the LS-3 is 300 lbs lighter than the original Cirvaur eng and trans axle, car is very well balanced 50/49

Thanks,

Never thought the Aluminum V8 was lighter than the Air Cooled Six.

Wonder what they did for brakes? I considered restoring one of the 140BHP 4 carburetor versions in the late 70s, but one look at the size of the drums changed my mind. Racers know that you only go as fast as you can stop 😱

4 wheel Corvette competition brakes the weight savings included the aluminum Corvette Tran axle/ suspension modified to fit Corvair 65" width plus some fender flairing for the really wide 365/40/18 tires rear, 335/40/16 tires front to correct oversteer. This thing is a ground hugging roller skate

Very cool - sounds like an extremely professional build.

Is it a show car only, or does he autocross or drag it (or use it for a daily driver)?

Wasn't the Corvair "Unsafe At Any Speed"?

Certainly was, that prompted my question about the sand bags.

The problem with the early Corvairs was the swing axle rear suspension (similar to VWs and Triumph Spitfires) which has a high rear roll center causing the inside tire in a turn to "tuck under" (serious positive camber) resulting in fairly dramatic roll oversteer under certain conditions. Wouldn't be a problem with the suspension and tire sizes fitted to the one posted.

A young Ralph Nader wrote the book.
