Where did the leaves go on our tomato plants?

Well, after seeing all the leaves were gone, we looked closer and found a number of horned tomato worms, some were infested with wasp eggs!
For these I used a Panasonic GX8 with an Olympus 45mm macro lens, an Olympus FL600 flash with a reflector.

I take it the Wasps will eat them alive. Good they deserve it. I like it too when birds pick off those nasty caterpillars!

Great close-ups and macros, but I really hate those critters and find them ugly too.

I guess the wasp larvae will get you your revenge, and rather unpleasantly for your leaf gobblers.

Super photos!

I have the tomato worm fight every year, usually starting about this time; thanks for the reminder. I've found that Ortho Tomato Dust will stop them, but it should be applied before the worms appear.

We call them tobacco horn worms. But they do love tomatoes. Do not kill the the ones with wasp eggs. Just pull them off and throw them far from your plants. The eggs will hatch into wasps that get more worms. I don't like to spray.
Excellent close-ups.

Great images. Back in the day....we raised tomatoes in our garden and at night you could hear the Horned Worms chomping rather loudly on our plants!
