I watched Young Speith win the Open Golf yesterday. It was quite incredible to watch this young American control the ball.He won a lot of money but he sure earned it.

My husband had a few of his friends over to watch it. I tried to watch the game and I lasted about 20 minutes. Could it get any more boring?? I called one of the wives of the guys who were at my house. We met for drinks.
I like sports. I like hockey, basketball, and football. I am looking forward to football season. At least there is movement in those venues.

I watched the last 5 holes again last night. When he made 5 on 14(?) it was all over. Probably one of the best bogies I have ever seen. Fantastic tournament.

I thought he had blown it then, what a recovery.
Isn't it sad those people who sneer at golf.we all have our sports we like but I would never make snide remarks about a sport that wasn't to my taste.

And the whispering by the commentator doesn't help to keep you awake. I'd like to see them hire a baseball commentators for a golf game or two.

It is a good thing he was not listening to Johnny Miller who was suggesting he go back to the tee. That would have been a defeatist move. The kid never even considered giving up and his creativity on that drop shows he has a great mind for the game. I am sure we will see a lot of him in the future, on both sides of the pond!
What a strange race of beings we are . The vast majority of us work like the very devils to make a living and just get on with it because that is the way it is. We have a few people in this world lucky enough to be born with a particular talent eg, hitting a golf ball , kicking a football ,singing particularly well and what do they get? Adulation from the masses , money in vulgar amounts, in fact anything they want from life. Bloody funny world we live in. wish it was me!!!
And he is only 22 - 23 years old?? What a future he has!!

If you didn't drink so much you might enjoy golf more! No wonder your husband had HIS friends over.
