The successor to the D810, the D850 is suppose to be announced Tuesday, July 25, 2017. It will no doubt have features that exceed the D810. One having a rumored megapixels of 46. It will also be expensive too. And the D810 will most likely become lower in price than now. Some info on this can be found on the New Camera website.

I'll believe it when I read about it on Nikon's site.

Yeah, speculation is just that.

I saw a little blurb from Nikon on Facebook this morning. Not much detail - just a "teaser."
I have known women like this and I hate being "teased", the least they could have done is provide a few specs of what will be in the camera or are they afraid the competition will one up on them.

It has been rumored that Sony refused to let Nikon have the same 42 megapixels sensor for the D850, as in their Sony A7r2 full frame mirrorless. Instead, Nikon and Sony compromised on the 46 megapixels sensor. I'm still trying to figure out this decision by Sony, if true. You would think a 46 megapixels would have an advantage.

It's on Nikon's website Bob. I got an email from Nikon about it today. Not a lot of specs yet though, or price, which I am sure will be higher than the D800/800E/810 were.
Disappointed announcement, no substance.
I also received an email from Nikon announcing the D850. Not a lot of detail but it is coming.
Don
They could have at least given some detail say like (D850 has 46MP, better ISO than the predecessor, articulating LCD plus a host of new features to be announced, instead we just get a name "D850").
