My primary subject of interest is avian photography. I use the wide angle Tamron for landscapes with the D810.

The D750 is a lower budget version of the D500. I would go for the D500 over the D750.

The 300 f4E as well as the 200~500 are amazing lenses for birds and wildlife on a DX body, they work very well with a TC attached.

For Landscape and Macro I use a D810 with the Tamron 15~30 and the Tamron 90mm 1:1 Macro SP lens. I don't think NX2 will be useful for these bodies.

It definitely won't open raw files for the D500 or D810. I use NXD to open the files and do very basic editing and then you can move directly into NX2. NX2 opens D7100 files but I don't think it does D7200.

Capture NX2 has been my main editor for Nikon files. Till now I have not updated my old PC with Windows 7 Professional because I thought that Windows 10 was not compatible with Capture. Now that I know there are no compatibility issues I am ordering a new computer.
In my humble opinion Capture NX2 brings up the best in Nikon files. The software has been discontinued and no more updates will be offered.

Capture NX and NX2 with the control point technology were developed by Nik Software. When Google bought Nik Software, Nikon had to stop selling Capture NX2 with control points. However if you own the program, as long as it still works you can keep using it.

Nikon hired Silkypix to write Capture NX-D and View NX-i, the products that have replaced NX2, but without the control point technology.

I recall, back in the day - I agonized between Aperture and Capture NX-2. Downloaded and installed both trials - after much comparing I went with Aperture.... well, as is now known, both products eventually fell apart for one reason or another and ended up EOL and zippo support from the vendors...., so no big deal I guess - I would have ended up with Lightroom anyway ;)

Yes that happened to me too.

I used Aperture from ver 1.0 right up until it was discontinued. I was also using the Nik plug-in suite from within Aperture. I still use Aperture occasionally when I want to quickly find a legacy image. I suspect that Aperture will cease to work with the introduction of the Apple's new File System.

I have been happy with Adobe, in fact I just renewed for another year.

Same here - Adobe CC is great as far as I am concerned - I did finally delete Aperture and erased my library a few months ago... If I had to I can still grab it from the App Store for awhile I suppose.

None of those cameras are supported by NX-2. I also have a D500 and had to download NX-D (not nearly as good as NX-2). Capture NX-2 has RAW support for these cameras:

D4S, D4, D3X, D3S, D3, D2XS, D2X, D2HS, D2H, D1X, D1H, D1, D800, D800E, D700, D610, D600, Df, D300S, D300, D200, D100, D7100, D7000, D5300, D5200, D5100, D5000, D3300, D3200, D3100, D3000, D90, D80, D70S, D70, D60, D50, D40X, D40
