The tonal range in the photograph is quite good, with the subject nicely centered. It is unfortunate that that the subject is looking away and not into the camera though, but that's children for you. I find the flowers in the right hand a little overbearing, but that is only my thought.
It's hard to be specific with the shot being so small but I'll mention what jumps out at me.
1.) The background: it's dingy looking (could be white balance) and could stand to be less defined.(blur it more)
2.) Skin tones...seems a big blue? (feet)
3.) Crop; my preference would be MUCH tighter.
4.) The flowers don't thrill me.
5.) It seems to be slightly underexposed; did you use your camera's meter?
Not sure about the sharpness or anything as the shot is so small I can't tell.
Thanks for the tips.I know what you mean about the flowers!!
Yes i did use the camera meter.

Unfortunately the camera's meter sees your composition (80% white/20% darker colors) and tries to bring it to 18% grey...hence the backdrop get's dingy looking and the shot is underexposed.
I'm not sure how many portraits you are going to do but there are two ways to deal with this.
Meter the scene and change the exposure settings to +1.5 or so (it's a guess)
OR
Get a used incident meter and know exactly what your exposure should be.
Your choice. A good used meter is 120.00 at KEH and worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.
thanks for more great tips
Welcome to UHH and good luck. You have a very cute little model.
Just a suggestion, and I am certainly not a pro, but how about putting the roses beside her hip next time and letting her hold just the purple flower? That might work. I would have to see it first but I like the roses, they just seem a bit busy by her face. Sometimes bubbles will get little ones attention also. Only problem then is they try to reach for them. Her dress is adorable. I would like to see more of the wings from the back with her peeking her face over her shoulder.

Get a Professional Background. There are several pro creative background. Choose one that is deep in color with breakouts.

Shes a little doll. Too close to backgrond. I would have given her a little toy, Teddy or a doll to hold. Much better for her age. Your lighting is good. But photo not sharp enough. You have to focus on her eyes. The poseing is fine.
