This might help you locate a venue. No. 5 offers guidance to several sites in/around Salem.

Good luck with that. Plan to go a day or two early. ODOT is predicting that I-35 will be a huge parking lot as millions of people travel to Oregon for this.

A friend went out west to scout locations, and he saw many two lane roads, with the potential for lots of backed up traffic. I'll wait for images to appear electronically as I sit comfortably at home.

And by doing so, you guarantee that you will miss the celestial spectacle of your life.

Oops and thank you. Sometimes I forget we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto.

I will be glad when it's over. We are expecting 400,000 people. That's like trying to to put 100 gals in a 5 gal bucket. The mayhem should be more fun to watch than the eclipse. Should go well with carnival atmosphere we have going on right now. Only 1 2 lane road open to the park from Jackson. Do you think it will get plugged up?

If you do not have a reserved place (hotel room for example) in the eclipse path by now, I would not make the effort to travel on 8/21. With at least 500,000 to maybe 1,000,000 folks jamming the highways, it may not be a great experience for some. I will stay in Portland...

I am lucky here in Kentucky, I get about 1min 45sec of totality. I am setting up just outside my garage door.

If I were there, right now I'd be looking for a place to photograph the mayhem from. To me, that would be more interesting than the show in the sky.

I would invite you to my house, but I'm going to be out at the Symbiosis event on Summit Prairie for the four days before the eclipse and the day of the eclipse.

There are still a few camp sites in Madras and Prineville, but most of the good ones are gone and they are getting awful expensive.

I'll probably set up in my front yard while getting about 90 seconds of totality. Don't want to be in any madhouse traffic just to get another 30 seconds or so. Just hope the weather cooperates !
