Hi I have been using SmugMug for some time but have only uploaded jpeg files. I took a lot of pictures on a vacation to S. Africa and have a bunch of RAW files which SmugMug does not support. I was wondering which (if any) cloud service you use for uploading RAW and have the option to share the pics with others like you can in SmugMug. Thanks,

Why do you want to upload RAW files? Are you going to process them? Once processed they are always stored in some other format. Just wondering.

A guy who was on the Safari with the group I went with wants them so he can process and create an album for the group. I'm converting them to jpeg for him to use...

Might be easier to mail your cards to him and let him download the images. If so, back them up before you send them.

You can upload to a cloud service that is used for backup of files, but not a service that also lets you share or sell them. All raw images need to be processed before viewing anyway. I don't know if you've noticed but raw images don't look as good as a jpg straight out of the camera because the jpg is processed somewhat by the camera. So NO, you can't and shouldn't do that.

You can process them and then save them at tiffs and then put them on most web hosting sites. But not raw and not layered tiffs. So you can edit, save as tiff then use SmugMug - but please, edit them first.

I use Microsoft One Drive - All my images go to onedrive - raw, Jpeg, everything. When I want to share more than a image, I push the photos into a named folder in onedrive and send a link to the persons I want to share with. I control whether they can view or edit, and at any time, I can revoke the link. When I share the images, they get an email with the link plus thumbnails.

One drive uses multilocational raid storage so my files are spread over the world and probably in 4 or more separate locations for each file. Tough to lose when spread everywhere. If I delete files, then realize I should not have done that, I have 90 days - 9 0 Days to request reinstatement.

I back up all my files, including RAW files, in a general place for cloud storage. I use iDrive, but there are others that are similar. Like many other cloud storage sites you get a good amount of free storage before you start paying a small monthly fee. I only keep the pictures that came out well, and those are the ones I back up to the cloud. There is a good chance that you can hold all your 'keeper' S Africa pictures for free until you get back.

I use DropBox for any file format (RAW, TIFF, PNG and JPEG). I do use DropBox Pro and I would be hard-pressed in my work without it. I also use external hard drives but I travel a lot and I use 3 different computers. When I don't have an external hard drive with me I upload everything from my cards to DropBox and edit from there. I have other services but DropBox suites me very well. I ought to add that I use DropBox for all my finals even though I use external drives as a backup. Sharing my files to others is simple.

You're thinking like you're sharing photos. Think like you're sharing files. Don't upload to a photo sharing site. Upload to something that accepts anything. I use my Google Drive and Microsoft One Drive to share files with other people, which usually happen to be photos. You just send them a link to any folder you create. There are many other options, some of which have been mentioned here.
