What a fine house she was. Even had a screen porch on back. Would love to see a floor plan. Enjoyed this- thank you.

Such a shame that she has to go. Houses had personality back then. I use to like to walk through vacant houses and listen to the sounds of my footsteps in the empty rooms. It probably wouldn't be safe to do that now what with drug use and heaven knows what else. She was a beauty in her day.

Great photo! I'm afraid if it had been me, I would have spent an hour or so with the DSLR and then packed it up in favor of my metal detector!

Thanks for sharing...yes, more and more old houses are being dismantled and their parts re-used. I'd rather see them come down that way that pushing the down with a bulldozer (which is so destructive).

I agree and believe me I wanted to, but was in my RV with 4 passengers in the back. None of them are photographers, so they didn't understand why I stopped to photograph an old crappy house. What I heard was..."are you going to be very long...we wanna get going." Ahh, well...at least I got this one shot, so I was happy.

I decided quite early that one rule of photography was to never travel with non-photographers! But it gets broken a lot!

I know what you mean, these were family members...they kind of have gotten used to my sudden stops, but they still whine. I'll get em broke in one of these days.

Crazy!! I grew up in Springfield and am familiar with the area of the home in the photo. I'll have to map it. Thank you!!

I had to map this house to see exactly where it was, and in so doing, I found that my grandparents lived less than a couple of miles up the road from that old house. My father died when I was only 15 months old, so I lived with those grandparents regularly for several years while my Mom got her life back together (she'll be 87 in Sept). I easily recall riding up and down that road, seeing that house in a day when people lived in it. I'm now 67 years old, and things have changed so much on that road. Many of the old homes that were there have now vanished, including my grandparent's.

Thanks for reviving old memories for me!!

Hi Folks, I ran across this old house while on some backroads in central Kentucky. It was so interesting, I had to stop and take this photo. Looks like her days are coming to and end as someone appears to be dismantling her. I see the front porch has already been removed. I know nothing about his place, but old places like this, always catch my attention. I hope you enjoy her too...
Jpeg shot on a Sony RX10M3, processed with Photomatrix and Topaz Detail

Great image Jim. Looks like it was once a beautiful house and home.
