Yes, it's a learning curve, but you don't need to know everything from the get go. Start by having your friend take you through some simple adjustments, maybe. Good luck!
Thank you for your comments. I actually had three people do an edit, to see if what I thought the image should do jibed with their impression of the shot. Of all the edits I did, there was something about Dmeyers' edit that was more "punchy," and that might explain my comment. It will not, however, erase the truth of Linda's observations about my choice of exposure and shutter speed😎
