so what if its grey market. Its the same lens. How many times did not need warranty service on a lens.
And if you check my past posts - I have stated the way to get service is buy this lens. Then buy the same lens from Adorama. Then return the lens from Adorama. Now you have a receipt for the lens from an American dealer.
No - you are not screwing Adorama. You are not screwing anybody. You are simply forcing Canon to provide a warranty - which they should do anyway - but they are ripping you off with their warranty policies !
YOu re not really screwing Canon - but they will think that ! hahaha

You forgot an important part. Serial numbers are documented with sales of lens, camera bodies :)
Perhaps Canon will not honor their warrantee on a Grey lens, but unlike Nikon once that item is over with, they will repair it. They appear not to be afraid to make money off you at that time. Been there, done that 😁😁

Sorry to say but you are screwing Adorama. The lens you return to Adorama cannot be sold as new. So guess who's losing the money?

Reviews of Abe's of Maine aren't too good, most say they are a bait and switch outfit. Had a good reputation at one time but, it changed ownership a number of years ago and not for the better. As stated above, buyer beware.

Abe's has earned a really bad reputation. You are much better off dealing with proven reputable dealers such as B&H and Adorama.
Never worry with B&H....period.

I was going to order a 200-500 from Abe's and the guy said to me "do you want the retail version?" What's that? It comes with the tripod collar, lens caps and case! Somewhere in every sale from there is a scam! That's the only thing you can count on with them!
This might not be a gray market thing exactly. I have purchased from Abe's before and when you buy something on-line, they always call you immediately after and try to up-sell you. Sometimes when you buy an item, you'll find that the accessories you expect to be part of the package, like end-caps, are extra. Several years ago, I once tried to buy a camera at their lower-than-market price only to find that the battery, charger and strap was not included in the sale. They even tried to sell me an "additional" warranty, which had the same duration as the US factory warranty. When I told them I didn't need any of those things anyway because I already had a similar camera, they told me the item was out of stock. This was a few years ago, but it is possible they still operate the same way.
If you want to buy from there, go ahead, but be prepared for a hard sell and some missing components from your "white box" .
Here is a list of Canon authorized dealers. I
only buy from authorized dealers. Abe's is not listed. I think many Canon shooters on UHH do the same. It's your choice.

I am looking for a canon efs 18-135 is stm lens, why is abes of maine so much cheaper than most others, they have a new white box at $279 on a july sale. This is far cheaper than I have found it other places.
Is Abe's of Maine Photo the sister store of 42nd Street Photo? Gray market sellers. I've read about them twice on this forum. One uhh member said they were a great camera store at one time, but are surprised at today's reputation.

Run away, run away now!
Danger 1, it's Abe's of Maine.
Danger 2, it's probably gray market merchandise, with NO official USA warranty.
There is little wrong with most non-Nikon gray market merchandise IF you buy from a reputable dealer AND it's a lens THEY can repair under store warranty or AFTER the store warranty expires.
Abe's and 42nd St Photo are danger signs, though.
When in doubt, use Adorama, B&H, Cameta Camera, KEH.

That's not all he forgot, I wouldn't buy anything ever from a person that has such a twisted view of honesty.
