I decided to try out my new intervalometer today. It worked great for the gray feeder, but the hummingbird didn't cooperate. She showed up just as I was touching up focus and exposure, and wasn't willing to wait for me to fiddle with more settings. So, all the hummingbird photos were taken without the intervalometer running.
Nice! Those hummers are such acrobats!

The Hummer shots are great!!
I've only used my intervalometer only once, to take pictures of the moon traversing the sky and stitching them into a short movie.
For Hummers, chipmunks, and the other birds, I like the CHDK motion detector on my SX50. Grab a cold one and wait for critters to take their own selfie.

I'm not familiar with it - will definitely check it out!
