How can he have any pictures? He didn't even order the camera yet.

Oh he has other Sony equipment. That's the whole thing about this clown. He claims superiority yet he NEVER shows any evidence of him been superior. Imagine when he orders the A9.....if he ever order it. LOL!

How can you say Sony is "taking Canon to the woodshed" when their market share is so small compared to Canon or Nikon?

In this context, Sony is the woodshed!

Which is cold comfort for Shilly!

This topic reminds me of a high school debate or a SCA battle. You go in with your battle sword and fight for the honor of the fair maiden (Sony, Canon, Nikon.....). No death or blood, just a few hurt feelings. Good way to amuse myself on a hot July afternoon and it costs nothing.

To be fair, I do have a sword or two, I also know how to use them, and even have a couple of fair maidens. Although, to be completely truthful neither of them are actually maidens any more, but they're very honorable women!

Why the hell did they ever start putting video in DSLR cameras anyway? By the way, who started this?

It's an incredible add-on for those of us that use it. For those that don't use it, well...just don't use it.

I agree. Add a decent video mic and the quality of video can be very good. Also with old manual focus lenses (FD adapted to EF), and especially adding Magic Lantern on older Canon EOS cameras. This really is a market in transition, and no vendor has it right yet. Most people can't play/edit/or display 4K video. If that's what you want, go buy it. There are plenty of options at all price points. This isn't a brand issue, it's an industry transition issue, and it will take a while to play out!

Sony does an OK job, but so do all (most) of the other players.

Can't make everyone happy! If I bought a DSLR with video and I don't use the feature there is this thread complaining about that

It started with live view and then they thought why not video. I think Nikon D90 was the first DSLR with video and the Canon 5D Mark II was the first one that made it popular.

I think that is true for DSLRs, but P&S digital cameras had video way before that...

Well, really we're talking the evolution of digital cameras, of all form factors, sensor sizes and so on...

It's a more complicated and longer journey than some here recognize...

Have you guys actually SEEN what Canon is offering in the new 6DII?

6.5 fps is OK............ for 4 years ago.
Resp. Do you need faster? I have virtually never used the speed of my 7D in continuous. Seems plenty fast for the intended use.

45 AF points is OK........... for an APS-C camera from 4 years ago.
Resp. All cross type many to f8. Now how many have that currently?

No headphone jack for a Full-Frame camera? Never OK. But
Resp. Why? Again how many use one ever? I would guess about 99% or more don't and don't care to so why have it? If you want it that terribly bad then get something else.

No 4K video? That's OK for a bottom of the range, point and shoot camera..................................... from 5 years ago!
Resp. Who cares? How many actually shoot video for more than FB anyway. If you want to do real video you will get a Canon C700. That should do quite well for video production. And as stated below has DPAF that others are still scratching their heads how to do. I would go for DPAF over 4K any day of the week.

Don't get me wrong; Dual Pixel AF is the best AF implementation for live view video in a DSLR. And this is one of the FEW cameras that has built in GPS and uses Blutooth for communication with smartphones for remote control.

But guys... shouldn't consumers be getting much, MUCH more for $2,000.00?

In 2017... with Sony and Pentax offering better performing and specified full frame cameras, and Fujifilm, Panasonic, and Olympus, all offering better performing APS-C & m4/3 cameras, ALL FOR LESS?!?!

What are the people at Canon THINKING?!?!?!
Have you guys actually SEEN what Canon is offering... (show quote)

Resp. It is an excellent camera and allows native use of the largest and best AF lens system in the world.
