Have you guys actually SEEN what Canon is offering in the new 6DII?

6.5 fps is OK............ for 4 years ago.

45 AF points is OK........... for an APS-C camera from 4 years ago.

No headphone jack for a Full-Frame camera? Never OK. But

No 4K video? That's OK for a bottom of the range, point and shoot camera..................................... from 5 years ago!

Don't get me wrong; Dual Pixel AF is the best AF implementation for live view video in a DSLR. And this is one of the FEW cameras that has built in GPS and uses Blutooth for communication with smartphones for remote control.

But guys... shouldn't consumers be getting much, MUCH more for $2,000.00?

In 2017... with Sony and Pentax offering better performing and specified full frame cameras, and Fujifilm, Panasonic, and Olympus, all offering better performing APS-C & m4/3 cameras, ALL FOR LESS?!?!

What are the people at Canon THINKING?!?!?!

Even as a Canon fan I've got to agree with you. Over that much time why do they still only offer such small advances when they could come out with some of the advances that they have already made with other models. The answer is $$$$$.

It's overlooked quickly that it went from 1 cross type AF point to 45. It's also overlooked that's it's the only FF DSLR with a full reticulating screen. It's also overlooked that a dedicated Sony guy is starting this thread. Wait a minute, I just saw the name :) How's you're new A9 doing and when are we seeing your images.

45 AF points was FINE.... 4 YEARS AGO! Even the APS-C Canon 7D mkII has 65 AF points and its 3 years old!

And that DSLR distinction is also 4 years out of date, as there are mirrorless AND SLT cameras on the market that out perform this meager specified offering for LESS. (Cough, cough... *Pentax K-1*, Cough!!)

So what if I love my Sony cameras? Does that mean that Canon is doing Canon guys a favor by selling 5 year old technology for $2000.00 a pop?

REALLY!?!?

Why do you ask? You shouldn't care what cameras Canon made as you would not consider buying one.

I am happy with my camera
- 5.5fps
- 39 point AF
- 16MP
- No 4K, no 1080p, no video period.
- Price at B&H is $2746.00

For you it's junk but for me it's a great camera. Why do you ask if you don't care?

Well, isn't it obvious?

This.... is a DISCUSSION board.

The point is, to discuss issues surrounding photography.

Why do SOME people feel the need to turn everything into a confrontation?

You assume I don't care but that's wrong. If I didn't care, I wouldn't have started this thread.

Understand that competition is good for ALL of us as consumers... and it TRULY looks like Canon has produced a product in the 6DII that IS NOT competitive against other manufacturers offerings in the same market niche.

That is NOT a good thing.

The average guy that buys a camera is a Landscaper so they only need 1 fps!!!
There are 50 page discussions here about why a camera even HAS video?
I see a ton of used cameras for sale that say "only" 2000 actuations!!! LoL
Give me a 6D mkl and I will take award winning photography for you in Landscape, Sports and Nature, let alone with a 6Dmkll.
Those that are fixated on the cameras usually can't shoot.
If you need a 1Dxmkll, don't get a 6Dmkll, simple as that!
Oh, and BTW, I still have NEVER seen a Sony in the hands of a professional! In fact I've only seen one being used...., ever!!!

^^^I guess sharpies post "defends" the lack of innovation in the 6DII... but doesn't the fact that Canon is selling this thing for $2000.00 bother you when OTHER manufacturers offer MORE... for less?

And with mirrorless cameras, you can even use all that Canon Glass for Landscapes?

BTW, if Canon keeps this up, do you have any doubt that you WILL start seeing professionals shoot Sony?

Having retired from IT recently, I know that manufacturers of IT products, and I'm assuming cameras, must do intense research on what features to add to their laptops or cameras to entice buyers to purchase and that they can produce efficiently without cost overruns while selling at a competitive price. They also use the advice of large resale buyers for what sells and what sits in inventory. If photographers are abandoning Canon because they deliver old tech and don't compete with Sony, there should be tons of wonderful Canon lenses used, refurbished, and new, for pennies on the dollar. And recent full frame pro Canon cameras!

I think Canon is AGGRESSIVELY segmenting it's market offerings too.

If you want 4K... something EVERY other camera manufacturers offers in even APS-C cameras... then Canon want's you to buy it's pro Cine cameras.
But I CAN NOT understand why the company continues to restrict it's innovation to dribbles and drabs. OR why Canon users are happy, ESPECIALLY given the fact that they have viable alternatives that offer BETTER performance and MORE features for LESS money...

That's puzzling...
