Review of Seven Island Birding Park, Kodak TN

I have been out of town for the past week. Durning my return trip today, close to Kodak TN I noticed a brown sign, advertising Seven Island Birding State Park. I intended to spend 2 to 3 hours investigating. Due to an unforeseen need to return to Lexington quickly, I only invested about 30 minutes.

These are my best of's, did not even have time to learn my way about, or set up a tripod.

Unbeleivable, well worth the 3 hr drive there. I will be returning!

Saw, but did not photo Red Shouldered Hawk, Osprey, and bunches of song birds and gobbs of sparrows. Embarassing, I was there at a "wrong time" of day 3 - 3:30 pm.

All those birds in 30 minutes!! I have bird envy! That's quite a variety. Why was 3:30 a bad time of day- position of the sun or - it can't be lack of bird activity :) Very productive trip and nice composition.

I may be wrong, but I find I have better luck out of the heat of the day with song birds. Might be me rather than the birds though. Almost everything we saw were insectavoirs, seed eaters were, I suspect hiding from the heat.

Also, the high sun did not aid in the photo opportunity, shadows in the bushes really caused havoc. I captured a, my Merlin App claims it to be an Baltimore Oriole, deep in a green bush. The colors are....awful.

This was my first visit, to quote someone famous, "I shall return!"

Un-processed, save cropping. Auto White Balance, hot sun thru dense greenery.

The worst time for my camera is high contrast scenes with part shade and part sun/dappled areas with harsh highlights. I find that partly overcast skies produce the best images.
I must be in the wrong area at the wrong time of day (year)
because I see very few birds> It seems that they all know I'm coming.
