WHAT? Picasa is owned by Google. So I'm thinking NO.
Maybe you are thinking about www.picnik.com which was taken over by Picasa...

Picasa has been owned by Google since 2004. Look it up.

You are correct! Picahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picasasa is owned by Google Labs:

Does anyone know of a GOOD photo improvement program (preferably free since I'm job-hunting) that includes photo straightening? Straightening the object, not tilting the whole picture so that it prints awkwardly. I need help. Thanks for your time.

Joe

GIMP

It was Picnik that Picmonkey replaced. Picasa is still working. Picmonkey is a nice online post processor. Just go to picmonkey.com. You don't download it. you work with it online and then save your photo.

I just googled picmonkey and it is a site that is on line and can not be downloaded to computer. Just thought that you would want to know. Have used the Faststone and Paint.net and found then to be very good. Safe site to download is cnet.com
Hope that helps
Ellen

Actually, it is Picnic that was replaced by picmonkey.

All of the answers you have received so far have been good anawers (GIMP would be my pick), but the thing is, the process you have described is a 2-step process - tilt the whole picture until the subject is level or straight, THEN crop off the corners so it is square again. You cannot "tilt" just part of the photo as that would leave blank spots within the picure that no software can accurately fill in. And yes, that will affect the size of the overall picture, a third step would have to added to resize the picture, if desired. This process will be the same no matter what software you use.

You're thinking of Picnik, which closed back in April. A couple of weeks later Picmonkey opened, and it looks and feels virtually identical to Picnik. Ergo, most of us believe that for some reason, Picnik became Picmonkey.

Is that where they do the 'Funky Monkey'?

Not directly, there are several plug-ins to extend GIMP. For raw the most popular one is UFRaw.

The user guide for GIMP is quite good. Other good references are GIMPguru and Grokking the GIMP. The learning curve for GIMP is similar to PS. However in Grokking the GIMP and the user guide there are sections limited to Photo editing.
