I'll be in Savannah early next month for a few days and would appreciate a few suggestion for photo ops. General walk-arounds are fine, I'm not looking for anything that would require a set up.
Thanks in advance.
If you check Google Maps, you begin at the Savannah River. Locate Bull St. and walk it Southwest toward Forsyth Park. Every couple of blocks is a park. Each park has a statue of some historic figure. There are fountains and a large cathedral. All very photo worthy. Additionally you will walk by the the house used by General Sherman during his march to the sea along with the headquarters of Robert E. Lee. The amount of history in this town is amazing. I spent a day there and it wasn't nearly long enough.
Enjoy,
Jim
Savannah is arguably the best walking photo op city in the country! Just walk around and you'll have many photos, and have ice cream at Leopolds ice cream store.
Thanks, Jim. We'll check it out.

And, don't forget to have breakfast or brunch at Clary's Cafe on the corner of Oglethorpe and Jones streets.

The most obvious thing is to start off with a hop-on/hop-off bus tour. It is a pretty city with a lot of interesting historical sights and architecture. The river area is a great place to stop and it will likely be on the tour.
But there are a couple of unusual spots you might want to check out. Wormsloe State Park is one, if only for the magnificent entry leading into it. Another nice spot, a moderate drive away from Savanah, is the Savanah Wildlife Refuge. There is a road that loops around a wildlife area where you will see an assortment of water fowl and reptiles. You may be lucky and spot some deer and large felines as well.
I was there two years ago in March. On the drive up from Naples Florida we contacted a photo walk of the city. I met the guide at sunrise and spent a couple of hours with a pro photographer who was also a certified guide. The best money and time. Great shots but after time with him I really knew the city.

Do you have the name of the photographer/ guide by any chance?
I will look through my records and see if I can find it

I agree that photo ops in Savanna are great and also go out to Fort Poluski (SP?) an old Civil War fort just outside of town. I think there was a question asked about Savannah earlier this year or late last year on the Hedgehog and you might search the archives.
Whatever you chose, it is a beautiful city with tons of history. Enjoy!
