Love the set. Well done images of a beautiful bird. I'm curious as to what the redish coloration on his wings is. Either I have never seen this or never noticed it before on a GBH. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, I believe the reddish spots are normal for the great blue. Every one I've photographed has had a touch of that rust color.

Thanks. I'll have to take a much closer look next time. Most of the ones I see have their wings tucked close to their sides, not beautifully ruffled as in your images. I'll have to go ruffle some GBH feathers!

Very nice. Here's a different view. Definitely has that red accent on the wing. These birds give a different look every time I take a shot. They have a strange anatomy. I'll try to post a few more that I have on my laptop that illustrate what I mean.

This is what I mean. Kind of a dork! But a photogenic dork! I don't understand what's going on in the second shot, split beak? It's weird. The third one isn't sharp but it's shows what I mean when I say there is a different look in every photo! And the last one, check out those legs! Amazing it can stand up on those twigs!
