Suggestions for a waterproof camera to use mostly at the beach, and kayaking. Just looking for a mid range camera nothing real expensive.
Thank you.
I recently purchased Panasonic FZ300, which is marketed as "splashproof, dustproof". It is a nice bridge camera with a very good range: 25-600mm at 2.8 throughout.
I have been very happy with the Fujifilm XP120 16.4MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom and 1080p HD Video.
It's good for 32 feet underwater and takes decent photos for a small camera
Olympus TG-5 and both lenses.

Give the Olympus TG-5 and the Nikon W300 a look.
Tg-4 or 5...depending on your budget.

Olympus TG-4 we've taken it underwater. As a bonus has a separate macro setting which is great

We have a tg4. It's decent and would be very handy for your active lifestyle. I suggest you read reviews tho. I think it has one of those little slide doors over the lens. They can be problematic in Sandy environments.

Lots of good choices here. I had a Pentax W60 and now use a NIKON AW100 (since replaced by other AW's). My PENTAX is at the bottom of the Pacific because the strap broke.
Waterproof - YES, Buoyant - NO.
So I'd suggest you look for something where the strap secures to both sides of the camera and when kayaking invest in one of these but note that if rolling the boat they will go off.

Hi - I'm a Mom that lives on the beach and loves water parks, I have had many underwater cameras, and I'm super hard on them. I have had: Canon D10, Canon D30, Nikon AW130, Sony TX30, Olympus TG870, and I just bought the Fuji XP.
And you know what - they were all pretty darn nice cameras. Here is my experience with them
Canon D series: Fantastic image quality, super tough, I love these, still have 2 of these.
Nikon AW130: Fantastic image quality, super tough - no problems here, great for the price
Sony TX30: This is the only one I had that broke and took on water. This camera does not seem very tough. I think its more for splash, not hard core underwater.
Olympus TG870: I bought this for the selfie screen and LOVED that feature. Great image quality, fun features, very tough. But my flash broke - and I like flash in the evenings.
Fuji XP- I've only used it once this season, and it was fun to use, but the image quality was very average. BUT it was only $100 - you get what you pay for.
I was super mad at my Olympus for the flash breaking and gave it some bad reviews in the past, but I must admit - I really liked that camera and may get another. The Olympus that everyone is recommending the TG 4 0r 5 is the fancier model - I have heard it is super nice and the fastest of the underwater cameras.
I feel like you can't go wrong with the Canon D series, Nikon's AW series, or any of the Olympus Toughs - they are all super tough and take great underwater pictures.
Fuji has a nice point and shoot for around $200.
