The surface tension of water, that is

Aside from needing a tripod and the longer lens (that I left home), what do you think of the pp and the idea for the photo subject? Does anyone have any experience with? I only remember previous similar when shooting one of those water-skating insects.

All suggestions welcomed; edits are fine. Thank you!

What an absolutely superb illustration of a phenomenon everyone has encountered, regardless of whether it wa recognized for what it was or not!
A marvelous image, Linda.
Kudos!

What was the surface the seed head was resting on?

An amazing shot, Linda. Imaginative creativity. I like the black water and the mirror-like surface around the stalk / seed head.

I find this to be an original and fascinating shot! The initial impact was to create curiosity. I wanted to look closely for all the details. The processing couldn't be better in my opinion. It is not a shot where I think this or that was done to enhance. Instead, it has a totally natural and believable look.

I'm delighted you enjoyed, Dave. Thanks so much! It's a small pond in a local state park. The edge I was standing on is slightly sloped so I didn't want to lean too far forward I have another with leaves, I think, but I also want to go back with longer lens before the water dries up.

You would chuckle if you see the original, Carol: I had to darken or cover up a lot of gray reflections and do a massive crop I'm so glad the manipulations appear to be natural and I'm very pleased you enjoyed the shot! Thanks so much for your time and detailed feedback.

You turned a very unique and interesting concept into a beautiful image. I viewed your composition as both horizontal as you
presented it, and a vertical, but I give a slight edge to the horizontal. Exceptional work, Linda.

Linda, this is beautiful AND unique, which is wonderful. From what you replied to Carol, I assume you did a lot of PP work on it. But it doesn't look like you did, which to me is successful PP work. I like the horizontal look. I know if it were mine, I'd have tried to make it be more of a diagonal, but that would give you more negative space.

Thank you so much, Kathy! In a private message, someone suggested giving more space around - period - so with your diagonal mention, I'm re-energized to do more exploring, both in pp and along the shoreline I'm very grateful for your time.

I like it. The horizontalness (if that is a word) works.
