When I power up small lcd sceen is on. The large lcd screen on back of camera does not come on automatically. I does if I hit I button it comes on. How to I get it to come on when I turn on camera?
I own a 7200 and I honestly don't know but personally I wouldn't want it to come up because it would just help drain the battery quicker.
The rear LCD screen will not come on unless you do either as you mentioned, pushing the "i" button, or you select LV--LiveView mode. Otherwise, only the small screen on top of the camera is the only screen that will light up. A good book for getting to know your D7200 is "Nikon D7200 for Dummies." It may not be the most comprehensive book available, but it's pretty much to the point about the various features and functions of your camera.

Paul, the display on the back uses considerably more power than does the top display, and I think the logic is, why turn it on at power-on. It comes on quickly with a push of the 'Info' button if there is data needed to be seen.
For what reasons are you wanting it come on immediately?
I have a D7100, and did a Google search on the subject. I could not find anywhere how to set the monitor to come on with power-on.
ok thanks for the info. Just used to other Nikons and screen comes on. Thanks a lot everyone.

You really do not want it to! Unless you really WANT to waste battery power.
The D800 has a setting that can turn on the LCD if you press the on switch further to the right. You might look in your manual. The default is for it to turn on the backlight.
(Edit: the switch on a pic of the D7200 looks like it might have it.)
As to "Why?", I like it because I often cannot read the little green screen without putting on reading glasses. With the info screen on it shows large and bright whatever button you push.

Maybe it does it by default. I can't find a setting for it.
Guess Paul lost interest. Pretty sure my solution works.
