Right! I'm 88 and a totally disabled veteran. I recentlly gave up on my D750 with its bushel of lenses and accessories for a bridge camera with a 28-400mm lens and wonderfl features, the Lumix fz1000.

The all-manual Youngnuo YN650-IV flash units cost $69 with built in radio triggers/receivers/transmiters to control other 560's remotely.

I'm back to shooting.

I wish you well in whatever choices you make.

I did hold on to the D7100 simply because I couldn't bring myself to part with it - so far.

Depends on what you take pictures of. Do you need FF or is a DX better. I love my D7100 but will upgrade to the D500, I mainly shoot sports, wildlife and macro. I also own both FX and DX lenses which both work on the DX. So just really depends on your need.

I went from the D7000 to the D750. The purchase of Fx lenses was not a big deal for me as 2/3 of my lens collection was already Fx. I just needed a wide zoom and found a 16-35 Nikkor here on FM. I will not sell my D7000, except maybe to upgrade it some day. The crop is nice when shooting very long telephoto and wanting to reach further! One gets more pixels in the Dx camera than using the crop feature in the D750. I love the speed and decisiveness of the D750 focus mechanism. It is several wow levels better than the D7000 in low light. And the added Fx size does not bother me as the D750 fits my hand better than the smaller D7000. If you can afford it spring for the D750, go for it! The D750 might be the last digital camera I ever need to buy! I am happy with it.

I have both the D7100 and the D750. I purchased both cameras within months of them being announced.

Prior to moving to FX, I made sure that all my new lens were FX, so when I did jump to FX, I already had the lenses. So I mostly have a full range of FX lenses, and I still have my full range of DX lenses.

As far as Image Quality (IQ), I found that my post processing in Lightroom, Photoshop and various plugins makes a larger difference that the actual DX vs FX sensors. I get great photos out of both cameras.

Where the D750 has a slight edge is when I shoot over ISO 2000. Where the D7100 has a slight edge is when I use the DX lenses and the whole lens plus camera is lighter to carry.

I love both cameras, I am glad I have a main and backup camera. On any given day I switch my thoughts on which is my main and which is my backup.

Another plus of the D750 and the D7100, they use the same batteries and same SD cards. They both produce 24 MegaPixel images, and they both produce wonderful images.

Prior to these cameras, I owned a D300s and a D80. While the images out of the D750 and the D7100 are similar, both of these cameras produce significantly better images when from my D300s and D80 (especially when I need to crop down.)

Thankfully I am a hobbyist, and not a pro, so I can suffer GAS attacks and not have to financially justify my spending.

Hope this helps add to this set of comments.

My only question is simple..should I really do the upgrade from the D7100 or am I good with what I have? Thoughts and ALL input is welcome

I too have a D7100, and have always wanted a full frame camera -- for image quality, and low light performance. If numbers count, the top 26 or so DSLRs are full frame. Even though the D7100 is a great camera, GAS took over. $1484 for a D750 with battery grip, extra battery, SD card, and carrying case was just too good to pass up. Go for it. It will feel good in your hands.

That is your decision. Why do you want to get something new? Are you satisfied with what you are getting now? Just purchasing a new camera will not improve you photography. Always remember, the camera does not take the picture, the photographer does.

That raises another question. Who among us is a photographer? When people see my big DSLR, they sometimes ask if I'm a photographer. I just say, "Well, I take pictures."

If your lenses are DX lenses the answer is no, do not upgrade. If the D7100 and your present lenses are not doing the job it could be the camera, the lens or you.
Start by understanding that a full frame body will require for its best performance full frame lenses. Is the D7100 not satisfying your needs or are you on a GAS attack?
I use a DX and a FX camera and my DX sees more use.

I have a D7000 and made the jump to a d810
I already had 5 fx film lenses and then purchased a 500mm Sigma fx film for $350. All work extremely well with either camera.
I plan on keeping both cameras - I shoot 80% nature, the rest landscape and macro.

You will enjoy the D750, it is a great camera

If you have the upgrade itch, the D7200 is a possibility. On the other hand, the D750 is an excellent camera, the best I've ever had. I think the $500 rebate is still in effect, so you can get one for about $1,500.

I bought my D750 in the March of 2015 and paid full price - $2,300 body only. What an idiot I was.

I bought my first for $2,300. Just after I received my second one, the price dropped $300, so Hunt's gave me a $300 refund!

I also bought mine at Hunt's. But I was not on the lookout for a price drop and so I did not press for a refund. I maybe wrong but I think a new D750 body only is going for about $1,500.

Let me change that. I bought the first one at the end of March, 2015, and the second about two weeks later - both from Robert's! They are the ones who gave me the refund. Of course, I could have just returned the camera to them and re-ordered it.

I hate it when people ask how many of something I have, whether it's cameras, computers, ukuleles, saws - you name it - I have what some people think is too many. But, they are not too many for me.
