I tried to process one so it would look like it was shot in moonlight. Are either of these interesting or did my experiment work?

Vicki, I really like the 2nd one. Love the detail and textures you captured.
The 1st one not so much, sorry. If you could get the hay hooks to stand out a little more I think it would be better. JMHO.

Second one for me. Nowadays, hay hooks have no use for round bales, which seem the norm hereabouts.

The first one didn't turn me on but the second one is spectacular. Thanks for sharing this unique subject, Vicky.

My vote is overwhelmingly for the second image. The first one is nothing special, unlike your second one!

Vicki, I think your plan worked. The first shot does look like it was done by moonlight and I like it. I like the 2nd shot too, maybe even more. However, there is nothing wrong with the first and it does have night time mood.

I like the idea very much, just not sure that particular subject is suited to "night" photography Interesting details in #2!

Thanks for the visit and thoughtful reply Will. I suspect you are correct about the experimental shot. The PP was fun to try, but I wasn't quite able to pull it off.

A few years ago, I fell off an 8' ladder with the hooks going ahead of me. The landing was relatively soft, and I somehow missed the hooks. It was memorable.

Thanks for your input Fred. I don't know how they move the round bales. I guess they're unrolled in the pastures as needed, but they wouldn't work well in a stable full of horses. Storing them would present other issues.

I guess that first one is unanimously outvoted, and experiment that didn't quite work. Time to put it in the delete pile, but it was interesting to try something different with the pp.

Thanks for the critique Mike.

My experiment might work with better pp skills. It was a learning experience that didn't quite work, but now I know.

Can't say I've ever "thrown" around any bales since they usually outweigh me, but I've certainly dragged some and split them for easier handling. Even fell off an 8' ladder with the hooks leading the way. The landing was lucky.
