I am a moderator on another site (not photo related) and the antagonist would get an instant vacation from the site for insulting a member. We have no tolerance for that behavior.

That is why you have so many of them here. The admin is very relaxed about rules. I've said it many times, the likes of JimBob wouldn't last 1 day on ANY other forum. We have a few armchair tuffguys around, but most members are good people.

If you wait for the next generation of the D750, you'll never do it. Take the jump and do it.

Every time I begin to feel comfortable enough to ask a question or make a comment on this site a snarky response appears and convinces me otherwise.

I always was frustrated by cameras that could not focus well in low light. As a retired wedding photographer it was my pet peeve. Lost too many shots due to focus that hunted in dim light. And zone focusing was not always a good idea in candid situations. I bought a D750 for that reason as well as the Fx format, and it just fit my hand well. I wish I had this camera back when I shot weddings, it focuses so smooth! A buddy of mine who is still an active wedding pro shoots a couple D610's, and is looking to get at least one D750 to replace one after he tried my D750. If low light is something you enjoy shooting in, and you can afford it, then go for it. Yeah something new will always be around the corner, but the old trade continues to lose value too? Best wishes!

So, Nikon is having a sale until Friday on the D750 for $1,497. I think I can trade my D610 in for $700 +/- with 11,300 activations. Net cost would be $800+. The only reason to do that is the low light focus is very poor and frustrates me. D750 reviews and say the D750 low light performance is excellent. Most shooting in low light I find a work around using manual focus or using back button focus on a lighted part of the frame and recomposing. On the fence here and the sale is over Friday. Maybe wait and see what the next generation of D750 has to offer? The flippy screen, additional focus points and Ok button zoom are all nice to have over the D610 but to me the main upgrade would be low light focus. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Chris

Yes, a $500 rebate is tempting. Get the D750 and put the D610 on ebay.

You'll get a good price for it.

Maybe you should keep "your thoughts" to yourself, if you're not going to be helpful.

I am in the same boat, I have 2 610's. the 750 has been out for a while and may be replaced soon. I would like a camera without the AA filter. My Fuji photos are so much cleaner looking right out of camera.

I have a 750 coming Friday from lens pro to go. I am renting it for 5 days just to check it out.

There will always be another sale on the 750

I have the D 750, two as a matter of fact. The low light, i.e., excellent image with ISO up to 12,000, is awesome. As to low light focus, the other day I was out and some some Barn Swallows nesting in a drain pipe. I could here the chicks, but couldn't see them. I raised my flash, with a single sensor pointed down the drain, I pushed the shutter release. To my amazement I had a very good picture of a pair of barn Swallow chicks about 18" down the pipe staring back at me.

I like what you said. None of us knows what lies ahead so if it is possible to get it do it now. You never know if you will even be here when the something new comes around the corner.

I have a D610 and a D750. If there could be only one it would be the D750.

Might not be a big enough jump up. Research a refurb D810. When you buy the best it only hurts once...

I agree. This site reminds me of a soap opera some days. I have loved this site and learned so much over the past couple years but recently, I scroll through a lot of answers trying to get quality information and trying to avoid the juvenile bantering of some members.

You know the situation that has you thinking change. If there is an area in the store you can test and see if a big difference exists, try it and then make your decision. Maybe there is a grace period where you can return purchase for no or little penalty. If camera doesn't solve your issue you could feel as if you lost out even though both cameras are pretty nice.
