You still have a computer that can actually RUN CS2? My Mac stopped running CS3 with Mac OS X 10.7. An OS that old is probably dangerous to put on the Internet.

CC is MUCH easier and faster to use than those older versions. The healing tools are far better and actually seem to be intelligent in the current version.

That's a Mac thing.

You will be amazed what the new ones can do! Get one with an SSD and you'll think everything happens instantly.

Thank you. I am anxious to update and see the difference.

Actually, you've picked one of the harder tasks in Photoshop.

I feel encouraged by that comment, because I had fixed one other picture that dealt with colors not so contrasting as the white sky and the blackish branches. Thanks

I used CC but this can be done with CS2 using the cone tool.

I have CS2; try using the clone tool- you won't have any problems. For what its' worth, Inever use the clone tool- I use CS2 every day !

Well, Windows XP will run CS2, but I wouldn't put a PC running XP on the Internet, even behind a decent firewall. I was getting at the point the OP had a computer that old.

My old friends still working in IT complain often about having to support old programs that won't run on anything newer than XP (or OS X 10.6.8, same era).

The thing is .. CS2 is free.
Why? Because, it's very good but it's 'old' technology.

Buy (or lease) the latest Photoshop and you'll not be disappointed.

I have an XP, 7, Vista, 8, 8.1, and 10, all running on the Internet, all protected by Malwarebytes. Best. Protection. Program. Ever.
In summer 2015 I did away with Norton, McAfee, Windows Defender, and a couple of others that I had running. All of them were useless.
Have not had a single problem since I installed Malwarebytes everywhere, which I did after being taken over by a ransomware virus that
cost me $700 to have a professional virus guy remove. He's the one who said, "Install Malwarebytes if you want to put me out of a job."
Friends with him on Facebook but he's out of a job around my house.

CS2 doesn't run on Windows 7 or 10. I tried. I run it on XP and everytime I want to run it I swap the hard drive with XP on it.

I'm running CS5 on a new laptop. I get the same thing with the patch tool. I think it's trying to blend, rather than cover completely. You may want to try the clone tool instead (rubber stamp).

As for RAW files, you're limited by which cameras your current version of Photoshop supports. If you buy a new camera, you can subscribe to CC. Or use the camera mfg. RAW converter. Or the free Adobe DNG converter. Or buy a current version of Photoshop Elements, Serif Affinity, or other image editing software. You can also buy software dedicated to RAW processing (such as Capture One).

BTW, the new Topaz Studio software handles RAW files, and it's a free download. It includes some free adjustments built in, with the option to purchase more.
