He was vacationing at Cape Cod, when a piece of lumber he was carrying in his car, became a lethal weapon when the lumber struck a car. It pivoted, breaking his neck and killing him instantly. He was Robert Worth Bingham, son to the Bingham publishing mogul, Barry.
