I downloaded Ultimate 10 - 30 day trial. https://www.acdsee.com/en/products/acdsee-pro?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Brand%20%7C%20English&utm_term=acdsee%20pro&utm_content=ACDSee%20%7C%20Pro

I'd appreciate feedback from other users. So far I like it, but not so sure it does anything that PS CC already does. It is also "non destructive". The one feature I do l like is its "Organizer" - uses File Explorer. I'll continue to play and test the waters. All informed replies are welcomed.

Thanks,
Mark

It does the same as Lightroom, just not as good.

I used it years ago, my son bought it and got a free extra license, easier than the Elements version I had been using, not as easy or as complete as PSP that I'm using now, I do remember it was good organizing but then I do that using Windows Explorer anyway, that way I can find my shots no matter what software I use, Bob.

BTW, my son now cmes over and either uses PSP on my computer or gets me to do any editing he needs.

Mark,
I am not a pro. I use ACDSee Ultimate after coming from PaintShop XIII. I read a lot about the issues with Adobe photo management when users change things on their computers. Like you stated, the file management appears to be straightforward with ACDSee. I edit jpeg and Sony raw with results that are satisfactory to me. If you find that the free trial meets your needs then the $60 or so price is a good deal. Others will have their opinions based on their needs and experience and they may be no more informed than yours. If I remember correctly the license is good for 2 machines.
Tom

It is not always getting the "best" software but "good enough for me based on my needs".

Thanks Tom. Good feedback. I currently have LR CC, PS CC, PSE 10 & 11, FastStone & Picasa. I use each, but mainly LR & PS. I'll continue to explore ACDSee. Downloaded it last Sat.

I use it and like it. Great viewer / editor. Easy to use
I also have photoshop CC 2015 if I find something ACDSee won't do.

Thanks for the feedback. It is a pixel editor as PS CC is, right?

Yes. I found it a resource hog, sometimes taking 15 minutes after clicking the icon to load (on a Dual Xenon system with 64Gb of RAM and a 7400 rpm HD), crashed repeatedly and mysteriously stopped displaying thumbnails.

I'm a big fan, I've used it for years. It's a great viewer (very fast), organizer and raw developer. It's editor is new and so it's pretty basic. I used LR for awhile and realy liked it's development module but I didn't get better results probably as good but I liked everything else better in ACDSee. It's a personal thing. You try software like your doing and then settle on something you get along with. With enough time you can get along with a lot of things but ACDSee is easy and produces good results. It's good at plowing through a lot of event photos and good at spending a lot of time on a landscape you want to print large. It works the way I think that's why I use it. I realy like the Light Equalizer it's very fast and effective at adjusting exposure.

I have used ACDSEE for years and prefer it to LR and all the others. It is remarkably fast because of the way that it deals with thumbnail images. The cataloging follows a simple windows structure and works with all images in your computer. It does just about everything LR does. I particularly like the light and color equalizer that works like a graphic equalizer sound board. You pick any area in your image and can adjust that particular brightness level or color by dragging up or down. Most people on this forum prefer LR but I think ACDSEE is more intuitive. Printing is also simple from the program.

Thanks for the information. Have you found learning tools, tutorials, ... I do know about the ADCSee ones. They seem to be rather superficial. I'm looking for more depth.
