Very, Very Sad....
[quote=angela k]Thanks my friend... and that is so true. I lost two cats in March, 20 days apart... and I still talk to them everyday and most of the time think of something funny they did and laugh... and the same will be with my fish babies... we sit there every night, feed them and pet them, it's different now, but I'm so greatful I still have 6 from that group and will add to them... but I don't think in this lifetime I'll have the same connection as I did with my 16 year oldslooks she would express
I appreciate your comment and that you understand...[/quotend
We lost our Bl. Lab Wrigley ( I posted several pics of her on here) on May 4. I held her beautiful head in my lap and her delicate paw in my hand to the end as we sat in the back of (not the bed) our pickup where she loved to ride with us. We brought her home and buried her. Like you say--there was that special connection that I will never experience again. I wrote the things she did and things she taught us and the funny looks she would express. And the list is getting longer and I still cry. She was 1 of a kind--almost human. I am so sorry to hear of your cats passing. I love cats and have lost some too. Too sad. After all this----hope your day is better tomorrow. SENSORLOUPE

About 40+ years ago I stocked my ponds all kinds or small fish. It took the blue herons about two days to clean them all out. Now I only have frogs, snakes and turtles. And a lot of mallards.
Oh, how sad this makes me. I am so sorry about your beautiful Koi. My granddaughters and I love to visit Koi ponds and sit and watch them interact with each other. They seem to all have their own personalities and some of them can be real comedians. I just can't even imagine how devastated you were to find your scale-babies floating. My thoughts are with you.
Oh no, I'm so sorry ! I have one next door that I help with when the neighbors are away.
I'm attached to them and they aren't even mine. Ughhh !

Saturday was a very, very tragic day for me and David....
We had a leak in our pond and had turned the waterfall off for a few days since the leak was located in that area. Our pond specialist was coming that afternoon to find the problem.... but with the extremely warm weather we had that week and we never had the chance to do a water change... we had a PH crash that happens at night and nine of my oldest and biggest koi perished... we found them all floating when we went into the yard to do some gardening.... I can't begin to tell you the sick feeling that came over us, they were our pets and each one had a name and personality and they always came over for us to pet them and hand feed them..... in this picture, the only ones that survived were Zippy who was born in the pond, Stealth, May, OJ, Spot and our newest, Julie (not pictured)... apparently this effects the largest fish first. We drained the pond as fast as we could and added fresh water to save the others. It's not the same now when we walk over to the pond, it used to be a crowd that would greet us, now after my remaining 6 get over this shock, they will continue to greet us...
Anyone that has a koi/fish pond knows the feeling of losing one of your scaly pets, hope this never happens to anyone else....

I am very sorry also as I went through several similar instances in my 30 years with different design and size of Koi ponds and went through a lot of money. I know how it feels to loose pets You have my sympathy.

We keep or pond netted for that reason, but I'd love to have mallards, frogs and snakes!!
I feel very sorry for your loss. I don't have a pond, but my neighbor does. I know what you mean about them being pets.
I know the hard work that is necessary in keeping them, and the joy they can give you.

Peggy, thank you for your comments... it is an image that I will never forget. I'm glad you visit koi ponds with your granddaughters, you must have a wonderful time together!
Thank you again for your kind words...

Thank you ez22 for your kind words..... they may be just fish, but they love to interact with you and each have different personalities. Enjoy your neighbors pond, I know I will be restocking again over time, but it took years for mine to let me pet them, I doubt if I'll have that experience again.

Thank you so much Donnie for your comment... we also have upgraded the size of pond three times, just so they would have more room. We will restock little by little, but I don't think I'll ever have the connection I had with my 16 year olds that passed.
Thank you

Thank you topcat... so true, it is a lot of work, but our pond and those fish were our little backyard oasis... no matter when we went by the pond, we'd be greeted by the large group... now just 6 and they must be missing the others because they don't swim over to us the minute we walk by, I'm sure it's going to take time for them as with us.
