We usually travel 300 miles to get pictures of this species. I walked out to my back yard and found this pair feeding.

What a nice surprise! Excellent capture of the handsome couple. A very pleasing image. Is your handle Dee?

Nicely done. I like the little photo bomber in the background.
Excellent capture and I'm sure a delightful surprise!

Thanks. I Had to work hard to get everything positioned just right. The birds by themselves was kind of blah. I wanted the eyes of both ducks in focus.
My bird book lists this species, black-bellied whistling ducks, as found only in the southern tip of Texas and Mexico, but they have obviously migrated. They are now one of the most commonly seen ducks in this area (coastal southwest Florida). I often see them in large numbers.

Beautiful download, LightBender and I saw Wood Ducks, bunnies and squirrels in our back yard yesterday, but unfortunately have never seen a Whistling Duck! Take care!
