City of Buffalo viewed from the Outer Harbor.
The HDR seems to have more "pop" to it and to my old eyes a more natural look.
The original just seems a little bland.
HDR done right! I wouldn't know if I only saw the second version. Very well done!

I don't see this as an HDR photo. I down loaded your original shot and reworked it in lightroom. Your HDR shot is blue and still crooked. Here is what your HDR photo is compared to the original fixed in lightroom. Which do you like better? A RAW file, of course could have had been done better.
Whitewolf,
I like what you did in Lightroom, but you lost the sharpness of the image. Zoom in on the yellow "You're Moving". You can barely read it in your edit.

Possibly because I exported it at 1200 pixels; not around 6000 like you did. Here it is again at 6000 pixels; is that better.
I am giving it a try using only LR also. The previous post did not do anything with the sky. This image is a rather low contrast image and needs some help. One thing I added is a gradient for the sky that darkens it a bit.
My opinion is that this image is not a good HDR candidate and simply needs moderate tweaking. I tried DxO Optics also, and it actually did even better, BUT, since I only had the JPEG to work with, I could not remove the noise remaining in the image and I decided to not use it. DxO Optics, Elite Version, has a Noise Removal Tool called "Prime Noise Removal", but it only works on RAW.

Hope you don't mind that I took two minutes in DxO optics Pro 11 and this is what I came up with.

I worked the original, too, but didn't HDR. If I told you my secret, then I'd have to kill you.

I like the second, but it seems to make the potential for bad weather look worse...
The first just looked like a "blah" day. Looking at the second, I want to run for cover
