Nikon D500 Wireless Infrared Remote question

There might be a thread about this subject already but I was unable to find it.
I have the Nikon D500. I was wondering is there a setting in the menu you need to turn on to get a wireless infrared remote to work with it. I swear I had my infrared remote working the other week but no: NOPE
Did I dream I had it working? Can you point me in the right settings direction to turn this option on if the D500 has this option.

Ok, I get that. Not an option. But what do you recommend? Good for family shots or night shots. I know I can use the timer.

...am I missing something...? SnapBridge allows you to use your phone as the remote for your camera...and it even shows you what the camera is seeing...

Yes Snapbridge does and it works but was looking for a stand alone wireless remote seperste from my phone.

It's just for family group shots or night fun shots. BTW, the person who recommended this low price solution is the author of this book. I wrote him the same questions and her responded with this suggestion.

I was surprised that the D500 doesn't have an IR sensor. I was rolling my eyes at Nikon. It looks like you have to add a gadget that will work with an IR remote. The Nikon site shows that wireless controller listing for $643. I've bought good cameras that cost less than that. I can't believe they couldn't add IR to a "top of the line" body.

I agree so went with a 28 buck remote. Has not arrived yet but when it does I'll let you know.
I might get slapped int he face for saying this, but kind of wish it had a flash as well but not that much. Also and I'll not only get slapped for this but kicked in the butt as well... Sometimes when I"m a bit confused or frustrated wish it had the "green" automatic option. LOL I have my control settings (A,B,C,D) set up and have D set for PARTY which is a very forgiving setting and a bit point and shoot setting.
