Need some help finding what motor I need for this table saw. A friend was downsizing from his house and had a Rockwell table saw he gave me, it had no motor but you don't look a gift horse in the mouth, I figured it would be easy to replace, nope. The model # is XX 1547, contacted Rockwell they couldn't find this model so I thought to try the data base of the hog
Can anyone suggest a motor to get for this, it is pretty cool. Someone spent some time building it's little cart
Thanks
Swede

Dayton or balder 1.5 hp motor, I believe it's a #59 base. use a 4" pulley.

Thanks Bob, I did that, I phoned Rockwell and they couldn't find the model either. All I'm looking for is a suggestion on the size of motor to use

Thanks Jacques, I never thought of E-bay but a good idea, I have a 1/2 hp motor laying around tried it wouldn't cut a piece of 1/4 inch plywood.
Some of the boys at the local watering hole suggested a 1 1/2 hp motor so that's where I'm going to go.
Thanks Pal

I am still curious as to how old it is though!

Greatly Appreciated

Might try woodworking forums. They might have an old power tool section.
I have some thoughts...... That could be wrong.

go look at a comparable new one. check size of motor, pulley etc. measure mount holes .... go from there... not that tough.... did it for a 12" professional table saw years ago before internet.....

You could get by with 1 1/2 but myself I'd go 2 HP so get at least 4800 rpm out of it. How long is the arbor 3 in?

A saw that size and weight I wouldn't go over 1hp 1725 rpm and probably a 2 1/2"- 3 1/2" pulley, I say this because it probably has bronze bushings instead of ball bearings, even if it is a ball bearing model it is a light duty saw. The make of motor is not that important, just the "frame" size , and thats not important unless the saw has a factory attached motor mounting plate.
