Just got an email from B&H, While all the big manufacturers are running bundled sales, it looks like Nikon is offering well over $1000 of discounts . Plus you can get a D3400 with lens < $400. Thoughts???

I have all the Nikon gear I need right now, so please, don't tempt me!
Uh, OK. However, I'm happy with what I have. That's my thought.

OK for a beginner as it is a base model. Several drawbacks but the primary one (at least to me) is the fact that any lens attached to it requires a focus motor in the lens. That removes a lot of glass that can't be utilized if you want a lens that autofocuses.

By combining a $200 price drop, a Sony $300 limited time sale, the stores in-house very generous $200 trade-in event, an hour's drive to a neighboring tax free state and a very useful Sony bonus accessory pack I 'saved' over $1,100 on a new (US Model) Sony A7Rii this weekend. I hope my wife will be as thrilled as I am with the 'savings' when I get up the courage to tell her.
The Nikon sales are very tempting. But, when I think about it there is nothing there that I even thought about buying before the sales. Buying something just because it's a good price makes no sense for me.
Besides, I would just kick myself if something really enticing comes out soon.
Anyone already seriously contemplating one of the offering might as well jump in with both feet.

Don't buy a D3400. The ninnies at Nikon took out the sensor cleaner.

Not a real limitation. All lenses produced in recent years have the focus motor in the lens. It works better, too.

Good price. Personally I would prefer the (discontinued?) D3300.
