Nice set. I'm always surprised at how old buildings are abandoned, especially those owned by the State or County.

Thanks for checking these out Jerry... my husband tells me that the town that these sit on might be coming to an agreement to knock them down and put up housing... just what we need on LI, more houses!! But the property of this institution is beautiful!

Continuing on with my adventure at the Kings Park Psychiatric Center we approached this building that did not look very inviting, but we continued up the steps being careful of the poison ivy! With the windows shattered, we were able to get a peek inside.... what ever it was used for, is a mystery!!

Thanks for looking and hope you enjoy this series...

Angela, Yes, I am enjoying this series. The windows, destroyed, are still beautiful. The patterns in the glass require further exploration and possible PP work to expand on it's beauty. .

This series could very easy be put together into a single view of slides, for example, that people could view in U-tube, etc. I do not go to those sites except via links others post to view something unique. One last time, excellent series in total.

The creep factor is growing more and more, the closer you get to the interior! I love these shots, Angela. You captured so much great detail in the door, the rust and broken windows especially. The last shot through the window with the table inside really gives me the willies! Keep 'em coming!!

Angela, Yes, I am enjoying this series. The windo... (show quote)

Wow, Greg, you're giving me a lot more work to do!! LOL... I don't post on youtube, but I agree, it would be fun. If only I had more time, I would like to rework the shattered glass, but so much to do and so little time is my problem!! ...and now with spring weather finally getting here, I still need to plant my garden!!

Glad you enjoyed this part of the series, my friend and as always... thanks for your high five!!

Enjoy the day!!

Hahaaaa... you're a chicken and just to make it clear for the record, I didn't have anything to do with those broken, shattered windows.. they were calling to us, or maybe it was the spirits inside!!!!! A mystery what was going on in that building and I'd love to know, but for now we'll just have to use our imaginations!!
Glad you enjoyed... the inside shots are still yet to come!!

Nice shots. I live in Setauket and immediately recognized the images.
So many of the houses have been taken down. Are these images recent? I photographed some of these buildings long ago, would love to go back there.

Hi Ed and fellow Long Islander.... welcome to the UHH Family!!
These shots were taken two weeks ago and the faciltiy is so large, I didn't see any signs of buildings taken down. A return trip is in order because we only got to see maybe half!!
I appreciate your visit and glad you enjoyed.... I'd love to see some of yours!!

I especially liked the first image but I think it could benefit from straightening (not that you asked) unless you intended it to be just that way. The horror stories told about incarceration in a mental facility mid century are scary. Apparently a husband could commit his wife under most any pretext including insubordination. Yikes!
