If I am right in thinking your problem is with using the flash off camera then this may help. When using the flash on the hot shoe you have the setting M with a little gun shape before it (on the left). When you use the flash off and separate from the camera you use the 3rd button along to move the M to the right to S1 then through S2 until the end setting. Then you have to have a trigger on the hot shoe and the flash will receive instructions from that trigger. I take it you have both the trigger and the speedlight on the same wavelengh. That was difficult to explain without diagrams so I hope it was reasonably clear.

Thanks so much Englishbrenda. I am going to print this off and try it tonight. Can't be any worse than what I'm getting now. I didn't see anything with diagrams that says anything about the settings above. I have the manual here, and tried to look it up, but then again, it's very hard to follow their manual.

I will check back and let you know if this fixed the problem. I really appreciate your time. This may be the answer... Crossing my fingers anyway.

Boy, I'll say that with all these issues, as well as others on here, it does NOT sound easier than anything else. My best advice is you get what you pay for. I've played with these and I consider this a very unreliable system. Inexpensive it it! YMMV. Best of luck.

cjc2.
Sorry you've found that to be the case. As I said before, after 30 years in "the wedding biz", I've had a lot of equipment come and go. I have Nikon SB 800's (which aren't compatible with the 622 TTL system) and SB-600s, and pocket wizards. I get more bang for my buck, and very consistent results as long as I'm not trying to "machine gun" my way through an event...which isn't my style. As long as I take a few seconds and compose my shots, and don't shoot full power all night, I get very consistent results. My 622n TX performs every bit as reliably as my old pocket wizards. If my SB-800s were compatible, I still may not use it, because I paid about 4x as much for those when they were new, as I did for the Yongnuo 565's. After shooting several weddings, and having light stands knocked down, you do learn to appreciate powerful, yet much more affordable equipment.

That being said, if I had unlimited resources, I would be using Quantom stuff, so......it's all in your perspective.

The 685's to me were a great purchase along with the YN622C-TX. Bit of a learning curve but once you master it they work great for a budget flash. Have a couple older Canon Speed lights and these work just as well if not better. The A B C setting you can adjust each flash. It might take time but read the manual and catch some of the You Tube videos. I found the You Tube videos much help in setting them up. I have a Canon 7D MarkII I use them with and they work great.

Hey Bob, the email I've used in the past was Tim Payne who I think handles Yongnuo USA at:

tpaynephotography@att.net

He got back to me fairly quickly. Hope it helps.

Awesome. I messed around with it for quite a while again last night, and the settings on the flash itself, SEEM to be what it's supposed to be.

I will Send an email to Tim this afternoon.

Thanks again
Bob
