The above white building is the house where my paternal grandmother lived in when she was girl and young woman before she came to The United States.

Somewhere in my file cabinets, I have pictures of The Gardens and Grounds of Ravelo. I will look for them when I have time.

All of the above pictures were taken when I was in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Shenandoah AD-26 a repair ship; I was 21 years old. Pictures and memories, are wonderful.

My favourite neck of the woods.
The drive from Sorrento to Amalfi is stunning.

Thank you for posting your memories, mine too.

The garden and grounds at Ravelo are outstanding

I noticed this is a continued series, I must have missed the first one.

Thank you for your compliment. I still have to search for my pictures of Ravelo. The gardens up there were beautiful, I have a picture of all the Busts that were on a low wall. I'll keep looking.

Beautiful place. We took the train from Rome to the hill country in southern Italy to visit family in 1973. We had lunch in Salerno while waiting for the local train to Potenza. We haven't been back yet, but we will. That was part of an 11 week trip that took us all over Europe.

These were taken in 1952. Our ship was part of the 6th fleet; we spent 7 months in the Mediterranean area, doing repair work on DD's. I was a great experience. I got to see most of the countries I had read about in world history. Join the Navy and see the world, is a great motto.

I was stationed at NAF Naples from '65 to '67. Went back on the USS F D Roosevelt in Sept of '67 with VA 72. Spent 24 years in the canoe club.
