Actually he was not the heaviest armed officer I ever met. After the Rodney King riots a lot of cops in So Cal gunned up. One LA Metro Squad officer I met had a large gym bag that went in the patrol car trunk with 30, yes 30 clips for her 9 mm, an SKS modified to use AK magazines and 10 full 30 rd magazines plus 4 boxes of 12 ga, 2 slugs and 2 000 buck for the two riot guns in the patrol car. She carried 8 clips for her 9 mm in pouches and pockets, two back up guns with 2 reloads each and at least two fighting knives. She was into martial arts both with blades etc and kick boxing at the international competition level. Her partner used to let her lead when going through doors to domestic or bar fights while he followed close behind with a 12 ga magnum riot gun with extended magazine tube.

Not only is it a nice looking gun, but you show it off quite well in the photo.

I haven't carried in a while, but that looks tempting.

Thanks Bill!

For a while, I went with an agency issued .40 S&W, but eventually went back to my personal favorite, the .45 ACP. Unfortunately (although, thankfully I never needed it and I'm here to tell the tale), my concealed backup was a .380. This was before the mini-Glocks and other concealable 9's, 40's, and 45's. For me, an ankle holster wasn't an option--I'm too slow getting to one.

I like the S&W M&P Shield in 45 with thumb safety. IMHO it is the best concealed carry there is for the money.
I guess I am a little old school and like a thumb safety.(Not available on a glock).....Although I don't engage the thumb safety when carrying.
ALIENGEAR is a great holster match for the M&P

In response to a question that wasn't asked of me...I'm short and fat and old and hurt all the time, but I carry a Colt .380 because I have worked with law enforcement for the last thirty years and they advise us to be prepared for whatever thugs might decide that I'd make a good easy investment of their time. Have I ever used a firearm for self defense? Twice with no shots being fired and no damage to me, both times when I was much younger and stronger. So to the man who asked the question...can you hide long enough or run far enough to give law enforcement time to respond to your problem? Can your wife and kids defend themselves from thugs? Do your wife and kids hate firearms as much as you? Do they respect your decision to not defend them?

Great shot of a cool little piece!

Nice to see there are some other gun people on here. I wasnt sure when I joined and that wasnt the point, but its still nice to have a few "friendlies" around. I would like to learn how to better photograph my small collection of antiques.

And to the people who say photographers shouldnt carry, it is actually pretty smart. Photographers tend to walk around with a bag that screams "expensive stuff in here!", sometimes in remote areas, and often paying more attention to the scenery and potential shots than other people around them. So yes, photographers are PRIME candidates for criminals looking for an easy score in a potentially violent way. JMO

I didn't see where you posted the caliber. Is it a 38?
