Baby Goslings made it this year!

We have been watching Mama sitting on her chosen nesting site for weeks now dreading the day they hatched! The Blackberries are very lush & thick this year & the nest is on a flat roof attached to an old barn, surrounded by a vast sea of thorny Blackberries!. The babies have not made it to the pond in years. So sad....

Well this year 6 little ones hatched out yesterday & I watched them all jump to their doom...but I got mad this year & approached the owner who graciously relented & let me chop a trail down to the water! First time! I had to get under the berries & peep at them to get them to come to me while Mama was anxiously hovering over my head...I caught 3 & the rest started following me as I chopped & cleared & stomped the vines. The parents both flew down to the pond & called the babies... I herded them through the tangles lifting them at times & getting pretty well stuck up myself! LOL, tons of scratches & thorns to dig out...even found my shoe I lost. But they all got there so it was more than worth it. Thank you Lord.

Pictures are just to show you the days adventure...enjoy.!

Your perseverance paid off, Mustanger! Several days ago I had fun shooting a family of Canada Geese. There were 6 adorable goslings. I'm glad yours made it this year. 🐤

Thank you Annie...there was no way I could just stand by ...LOL...you should see my legs! Looks like a Bobcat tried to climb up them. But it was worth it. Now that I have made positive contact Maybe I can get it cleared better for next year!

The universe thanks you. If we can't take care of ALL creatures, great and small, what good are we?

God bless you for your kindness, Mohammed! These are really good photos! Our Canada geese didn't come back to have their babies in the parking lot this year, I suspect because they've been doing lots of work there and it scared them off. They've been coming for many years, thought. The duck that nests between a brick wall and a tree just off to the side of the parking lot laid 3 eggs, then left and never came back. :( It looked like someone stole the eggs eventually.
