Put few years in seat of an M myself.

They either gotta go big or get out. Walmart is shutting doors on lot of small towns. Lot of empty stores now.

Interesting shot, lot of mystery

Yup, it's sad to see the family farms go under, the mom and pop stores too. Seems like everybody's in a hurry these days. I just hang on while this old world keeps spinning, because it's out of my control. Enjoy what we have left.

One reason is that farmers have to pay higher taxes these days, and those taxes have to be paid regardless of how good their crops were that year, and many of the younger generations do not want to dedicated their lives, 24/7/365 to being a dairy farmer. In my opinion, it is the toughest job in the world. Ungodly hours, back breaking work and their profit depends on the price the middlemen are willing to pay. Their only hope is joining cooperatives like Cabot. It killed me to see, at one time, a gallon of "designer" water going for more than a gallon of milk. Unfortunately, those bucolic looking farms in the hills and valleys of New England are becoming a thing of the past.
