I don't think it matters where, but if you add water plants, I would think mostly sun to part shade would be best. The frogs love it, especially if there are plants for them to hide and get some shade. Let me know when you start digging!!
No digging for me...that's for sons and grandsons...lol!

I looked to see if the Carolina wren that perches and sings

the little tree frog was snoozing in the crook of a big wax

Thanks for sharing your critter friends, Meri! 🐸

LOL.... thank goodness age is just a number because I still feel like 25 and I'm a far, far, far from that number according to my birth certificate!!
Hope you get a couple of hungry cookie monsters to start diggin' for you!! ...and if you decide you want to put a gold fish in, I'd keep the pond in part shade. We had a water feature in just a 1/2 barrel plastic bucket from HomeDepot on my deck and put a gold fish in it... with the heat, he jumped out and we found him fried on th deck
But if you put a gold fish in, it will help with the mosqueto problem!!

Merry, if you didn't buy the prefab pond yet, you can also buy a small rubber liner and just add that to any shape hole you make... that might be easier, then just edge it with rocks or slate.
Nice , the frog made me smile , simple but effective !
