How long has it been since you've seen one of these?
Not too long, they have one at the Largo, FL Historical Park that they are currently restoring but not yet open as an exhibit.
It has been awhile. As a retired locomotive engineer from Southern Pacific R.R. I have spent a few years riding in them before becoming an engineer. I never thought of taking pictures of them then. I never thought they would go away.
I have a few I drag around with my trains like were done in the old days. Good thing the electric toys still work well even thought it is a dying way of entertainment for the younger generation.
Note this one appears to have been updated with a "Tight lock" coupler. I must be used in a tourist train somewhere.
Very appropriate picture of the caboose life line.
This caboose is in the Port of Albany.
I have no idea how it is used.

It seems that my aging memory has done me a disservice again, I had forgotten the rule about posting in other peoples posts. It was not my intention to Hi-jack willard3's post it was only to give another perspective of the subject. I am kind of a train fanatic too.
I want to publicly apologize to the members of the forum and to willard3, as I have already done in private. It shall not happen again.
