I captured this photo Monday sitting on the back deck as she was sunning herself peaking out of the Owl House. Took this with the Canon 70-200 f4 w/ 1.4 extender, @ 280mm, f5.6, 400 iso, and 1/80, cropped for a close-up.

Great shot. I have nice photo of red-phased screech owl in its favorite tree, which I printed and framed for my granddaughter's apartment. The only problem is its eyes closed. I also have a screech owl on the hand of a handler at the Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences. Came face-to-face with a saw-whet owl once when I was bow-hunting for deer, but didn't have a camera available. Bud

Thanks Bud....we have had a pair of owls in our backyard now for the last 12 years. Our 1st pair was a Red male and a Gray female. Most have been gray over the years, but this little girl seems to be a hybrid of the 2 phases....she is currently sitting with young and they should out in a few more days.

Yes, I did notice the mixed color. Great to have a pair in your yard.
