I'm recently retired and loving learning about photography. I've taken over 10,000 pictures in 3 years of retirement and now I'm trying to organize them into slide shows of reasonable lengths. I have Photoshop elements 14 (which takes forever to open up and use) and Windows 10 "Photos" on my laptop. I'm looking for an easy to use program that will allow me to copy and paste or click and drop a photo into an album that I can then rearrange the sequence and add an occasional title to the photo. This was easy to do when I was young an using slides but it is giving me a fit with digital photos. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Roxio makes a pretty good software package that allows you to create a slide show that includes photos and short movies. You can add your own music or whatever voice narrative you would like. If you look to buy the package NTX pro 5 would be my suggestion. The good thing about the package is the slide show is pretty much automatic after you enter the photos you want.

Larry, welcome to UHH. Consider using Adobe Lightroom to organize your images in folders.

When I was doing weddings [key word was... hard work] I surveyed SlideShow programs... price was not an issue.... The best I found was by Ashampoo. Sure much the same as others, but I especially liked that empty space of a "portrait" image was filled not with black, rather with a major color from the image. $20

also see photostory 3, I recall it is free and simple and will send via email attachment?

Not folders. Think collections, inside collection sets.

Bridge, but you have to learn how to use. There is a learning curve to everything. Nothing is automatic.

Movavi makes good software, and this is only $39.

I've used ProShow Gold, which is very good. I think it sells for about $70 now.

Sounds like your Photoshop Elements may be slow because you are using an older computer whose hard drive has become fragmented. For slide shows I use PowerPoint (actually Keynote on my Mac but it does the same thing) which easily allows you to order your slides and add captions. I also use Adobe Lightroom for all organizing into subject groups and processing.

There must be a hundred ways to do it. I'm still looking for something that works like my old Clear Light Superstar from 1984, that allows me to compose in multi-image fashion and synchronize four time lines with .01 second resolution, but that's not out there, yet. The closest thing I've found is HD or 4K video.

I use, or have used, all of these:

Graphic Converter (Mac)
Keynote (Mac)
PowerPoint (Mac + Windows)
ProShow Gold (Windows)
Photos (Mac)
iMovie (Mac)

If Photoshop Elements loads slowly, you have a slow or under-equipped computer.

Ashampoo makes decent software packages at a reasonable price. If you subscribe to posting like 'Giveaway of the Day' you can frequently find free copies of their software at 1 maybe 2 revisions below their latest-greatest. If you are going to get serious about slide-shows, I would suggest you take a look at ProShow Gold or Proshow Producer. I use ProShow Producer and have found it can be as simple as drag-and-drop photos in the sequence I want, add an audio score and done; or as complex as adding movement to the photo as it enters the frame, displays in the frame and leaves the frame, plus individually timing the each photo frame for display duration. While more pricey than the Ashampoo package, there is a lot more room for personal growth and is actually fairly easy software to learn.

Irfanview will do everything you are looking for and is free. At that price it is worth a try.
