Just curious if y'all think this is overdone on edit? And if it will print Okay? I don't print much, but this is my son getting the out here, and probably one of my favorites of his during game play. (Cell upload)
It looks a little over done to me.
It has a graphic quality to it that's kind of interesting. If you like it, it's good.
Personally, I might back off a bit. The dark halos around the players' legs bother me a bit.

It looks like you used a large soft edged burn tool to darken the bright areas, resulting in the dark halos.
I suggest you start over, use Photoshop, Camera RAW Filter.
The shadows and highlights sliders will let you recover as much of the highlight and shadow detail as possible. adjust those and the exposure, contrast, and clarity slider to optimize the image overall.
I would add a bout a 20% darken vignette using the fx tool in Camera RAW Filter.
Overdone. Too much contrast for one.
The darker areas are a result of a drama filter I used. In the sooc photo, the dark "halos" around legs are from the actual color of the field. The lighter areas are the dust flying from the slide in the dirt.
Sarahp30:
Your image looks a bit too contrasty and the shadow areas are a little dark too. A couple of suggestions: crop the player on the left and clone out the foot (?) in the lower right corner. As prints don't have the dynamic range of digital images, the results may not be what you desire. Print both versions for your edification.

Attached it below...thank you all for your assistance, I'm still trying to learn with a long way to go!

Can we see the SOOC?
One other thing to note is that it appears the whites are blown out. You may want to consider dialing in a little negative exposure compensation in the future when shooting bright whites in the sun like that. If you're shooting raw you may be able to save it, but when they get totally blown out there's no help for it... -- Dave
The original is in my mind by far much better....

Wonder if your white balance is off just a tad.
Camera RAW Filter - Highlights -100 Shadows +50 Clarity +50 fxPost Crop Vignette -20
I see it as a reality shot; it looks like most of the HDR shots most peeps post so... I think you will catch on so; Go for it!
