These make what we're traveling in today look pretty plain & pale. I love them all.

Great looking vehicles, thanks for posting. Minor detail: what they called a '52 Buick Riviera is a Roadmaster. The Riviera wasn't introduced until '63.

I had a '65 English Ford Cortina. I think that image was posed, as I have strong doubts the 1500 cc 60 hp Cortina could move such a large trailer, much less haul it anywhere. I can almost smell the clutch burning.

Thanks, takes me back to when I was a kid, just looked but couldn't afford to camp that way. Now much older and having been there and done that I have to say that today for comfort and ease of travel I much prefer the motel. Great set of history.

These are great looking caravans with fabulous motor cars.
They are better looking than to-days offerings.
I will have the "1947 Custom Buick Sedanet with Matching Trailer".
Thank you for the link.

My pleasure mate. They were all good looking.

Great link, beautiful old cars
But wtf is a Sedanet?
And the Buick Rivira was not intriduce until 1964

http://classiccars.com/listings/find/all-years/buick/sedanette

from Wikipedia:
The Buick Riviera is a personal luxury car produced by Buick from 1963 to 1999. GM's first entry into that prestige niche, the Riviera was highly praised by automotive journalists upon its high-profile debut. While early models stayed close to the original form, subsequent generations varied substantially over the Riviera's thirty-year lifespan. In all, 1,127,261 were produced.

I live in the country, so I never did understand weekend camping. To me, it was like moving to town. And, I kept thinking about all the nice hotels one could stay in for the price of a camper. But that's just me.

My idea of "camping", after spending many years in the bush back in Africa, is a Five Star Hotel!
