Can anyone recommend a good card recovery program? I was shooting sunrise at a bird rookery. I was reviewing the pics on my camera when i suddelnly got an error message and the pics on the screen were nothing but "X" in a box. I have tried 2 recoveries; Pandora and CardRevovery. They appeared to be working but after the "recovery" still could not open any pics. HELP!! I lost some really good stuff on a 16 GB card

A couple questions come to mind.
are you looking in the right folder for the recovered files?
is the file extension matching what you're searching for?
I've recovered images from a card that I accidentaly deleted all the pix
(about 200) recovered all but 3

Try the card in another PC. It sounds to me like it could be a software problem.

So I took my SD card to a company called DataRetrieval.com. After analyzing my card they emailed me this response.

"The media has failed due to a logically corrupted transistor. The transistor is used to translate data from your device to the media source. Without this the device as well as the information on the device is useless. We must implement custom programming. The program that is written for your specific card, will be made to handle corruption of an SD memory card file structure. What this will do is root through the entirety of your media to basically decrypt and repair any damage that is occurring within the card itself. This will also ensure that when we are extracting the data from the card itself, the data coming back will be workable and uncorrupted. This is particularly fragile because the data that we are attempting to salvage will need to be pulled off and made sure that the information as a whole is intact. This program could take several hours to write and apply, as it is again being written from scratch. Sometimes you run into the issue where we are able to pull part of or some of the data off as separate pieces. This is not optimal, and our recovery technician will need to be on hand to make sure that the data that is salvaged is workable on your system. Once we have the program written and running, the process must run its full course to ensure the integrity of your data. Unfortunately there are very few consumer extraction programs that are able to handle this type of scenario, thus the reason for a customized program"

And the cost, only $587!!!!!!!!! Is this possible? I have about 700 pic on this card with some realy good stuff, but really, $587! Does this sound legitimate or a scam?

I've never failed with Recuva, but if it doesn't work then you may have to pony up... Sorry.
